BIOGRAPHY 簡 歷
Shiau-Peng Chen works with painting, printmaking, and artist's book. Chen's early works study form and composition, and concepts of infinity. Her recent works explore the relationship between the individual and the city, her experience as an artist, and issues of national identity. Shiau-Peng Chen's abstract and geometric works express a strong sense of spatial awareness and a sensitivity to geographic and social placement, as well as her own interpretation of art history. Through art practice, Chen also discusses concepts of color and ideas of monochrome painting. In most cases, the artist's works are realized through her unique methods of mapping and referencing. Shiau-Peng Chen was born 1976 in Penghu, the Pescadores Islands. Chen received her BFA from Taipei National University of the Arts in 1999, an MFA from Pratt Institute in 2001, and a Doctorate in Fine Art from RMIT University in 2009. Shiau-Peng Chen has held solo exhibitions at Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Chiayi Art Museum, Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, IT Park, SNO Contemporary Art Projects, etc., and was the artist-in-residence at Gyeongju Arts Center, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Glenfiddich Distillery, 18th Street Arts Center and Taipei Artist Village. 陳曉朋以繪畫、版畫和藝術家書籍為主要創作媒體，早期作品處理形式、構成和「無限」的概念，近期創作探索個人和城市的關係、身為藝術家的經驗，以及國家身份的議題。陳曉朋的抽象、幾何作品展現強烈的空間知覺感、對於地理和社會位置的敏銳度，以及關於藝術史的個人詮釋。透過藝術實踐，陳曉朋也討論色彩的概念和單色畫的想法。在大部分的案例中，藝術家透過獨特的製圖和參照方法展開創作。陳曉朋1976年出生於澎湖群島，1999年獲國立台北藝術大學藝術學士學位，2001年獲紐約普拉特藝術學院藝術碩士學位，2009年取得皇家墨爾本理工大學藝術博士學位。陳曉朋曾在台北市立美術館、嘉義市立美術館、關渡美術館、伊通公園、SNO當代藝術計畫等藝術空間舉辦個展，於慶州藝術中心、安德森牧場藝術中心、格蘭菲迪釀酒廠、第十八街藝術中心、台北國際藝術村等地駐村創作。陳曉朋現在生活和創作於台北，並任教於國立台北藝術大學。（ 展覽履歷 ）
